Golf Club Length Calculator and Fitting Chart

Use height and wrist-to-floor measurements to estimate a starting golf club length. The result references a 7-iron so you can distinguish an absolute target from an adjustment to a particular set.

How to measure wrist to floor

Height and wrist-to-floor measurementStand upright in golf shoes with arms relaxed. Measure full height vertically and from the wrist crease straight down to the floor.Wristto floorHeight

Ask someone to hold the tape vertically. Keep shoulders relaxed and use the same shoes for both measurements. This screening does not determine lie angle or driver length.

Target = 37 in + height offset + wrist offset. Combined offset is limited to ±1.5 in, in 0.25-in steps. Trial either side: ±0.25 in.

How to use this tool

  1. Measure your height and wrist-to-floor in normal golf shoes with your arms relaxed.
  2. Choose units and the reference 7-iron length for the set you are comparing.
  3. Review the target and relative adjustment, then test posture, strike and comfort in a physical fitting.

How we calculate

The starting model combines height and wrist-to-floor offsets with a 37-inch 7-iron reference, caps the total adjustment at ±1.5 inches and rounds to quarter-inch steps.

Worked example

At the model’s neutral measurements, the target is a 37-inch 7-iron. Against a 37-inch reference the adjustment is zero; against a 36-inch reference it is +1 inch. The absolute target stays 37 inches.

Limits and common mistakes

Static measurements do not determine posture, dynamic lie, contact or comfort. Compare the suggestion during a fitting before making equipment changes.

Frequently asked questions

Does switching a men’s or women’s reference change my target?

No. It changes the reference length and relative adjustment, not the target derived from the same measurements.

How should I measure wrist-to-floor?

Stand naturally in normal golf shoes, arms relaxed. Measure from the wrist crease to the floor.

Why do both height and wrist-to-floor matter?

People of the same height can have different arm lengths and address positions.

Should I immediately cut or extend my clubs?

Use this as a fitting starting point. A physical fitting checks the effect on strike, balance and posture.

Does the result apply to every club?

It references the 7-iron. Set progression and driver lengths require a separate fitting decision.
